Jesus.... King or Savior???

Jesus….King or Savior?

I really believe this is a question we all have to ask ourselves. In our mess, in our sin, do we want a king or do we want a savior. We have to look at how Israel viewed this long awaited, mighty King that was prophesied in the Old Testament. They really believed that this king would come in with a strong arm, a big sword and clean house, but what they didn’t expect is for this king to be entering in to Jerusalem, riding on a borrowed donkey. The crowds roared the name Hosanna! “Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!””

Mark 11:9 . They welcomed him into their streets and towns, but we later read that many did not welcome him into their hearts.

That some of the same ones that welcomed Hosanna, turned their backs on the Savior. When Pilate asked Jesus “are you the king of Jews”, Jesus’s response shook the core of religious folk. “My kingdom is not of this world”. The crowd went from curiosity to yelling “crucify him”!

This brings us back to the beginning statement that we have to answer for ourselves. Do we want a king or do we want a savior. Make no mistake about it. Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords! But to accept him as a Savior, means that we all have to come to a crossroads of deciding whether we actually want to be saved or not. There is one reason that Jesus came into your world, to save you from your sins.

So, have you accepted Jesus Christ as some kind of mystical King, that will one day come and take care of your problems for a moment or have you acknowledged that you need to be saved and Jesus is the only one that can truly save you and set you free.

I pray over your heart and mind, that you will understand and accept why we celebrate the Easter season in such a big way! We welcome him not only into our streets, communities and homes as king, but most importantly we have welcomed him into our hearts as savior. Answer this question: is Jesus king or savior in your life?
